Saturday began cloudy with rain anticipated by noon.   I woke up and had coffee and cereal.    I got up at 6 to feed Sky, who is now sleeping on my bed.   Woke at 7.    I did my Saturday morning routine.

While talking to Laura about activities, I thought of buying a vacuum cleaner to return the one borrowed from Neighbor Don.    I will go to target to look at them.  The item I am interested in was not available in the store.   I don’t want to order it and have it delivered because I don’t feel like spending more money and I don’t want to wait for it.

I started chores (noisy type) around 10.  The dryer is running and I'm waiting for it to finish the current load.   I am also waiting for it to die.  It has been squeaking loudly for days.   Once the situation arises, I will need to begin utilizing the laundromat.

We're celebrating Steph’s birthday next Friday at Como Mongo in Madison.  She says she doesn’t want gifts.  I am considering whether we will give a group gift or follow her request.   She just wants to be with us.

The rest of the day got lazy.  Once I finished the vacuuming.  I returned the vacuum cleaner to Don in the afternoon.   I realized I needed a new vacuum cleaner.   I will either get a eureka or a Bissell (that’s comparable) to what Don has.  They were both about 80 dollars and I think it will be good.  Yes, I researched.

Sunday was quiet. I went grocery shopping at around 10 AM and returned by noon.   The afternoon I went to Bingo and met the new Recreation Director Trimm.  He is very nice.  We had fun too.  We had thirteen residents.  One of them was my Bingo lady Alice.  She turned 102 this past week.

When I got home I put the bbq chicken together.  Unfortunately, I didn’t follow the recipe to the letter.  I was supposed to cook them first before putting the sauce on.  Instead, I just put it on them before cooking.  I think I didn’t have it at the right temperature.  It did look good.

Later in the evening, while I was watching the NCIS marathon, I consumed some mini shredded wheat which unfortunately caused me to feel ill.   I got as far the bathroom sink and threw up.

Memorial Day started out pretty good.  After feeding Sky, I had breakfast and completed some tasks which included visiting both Target and Walmart to examine the vacuum cleaners.   The ones at Target appeared complex and were above my budget.   I looked at the ones at Wal*Mart.  The price was again out of my budget.

I ordered one from Chewy for $75 when I got home.   It was a Bissell and has all the things I was looking for.

The rest of the day I did a few odds and ends.  I discovered there may be something wrong with the dishwasher.  The washing pod hasn’t dissolved very quickly today.  I checked inside and it looks okay and its possible I may have packed the dishes wrong.  I might need to start washing dishes by hand until I can get a new dishwasher.

I made a late lunch of cheeseburgers after I made and froze several beef patties for the next week.

I just relaxed the rest of the time and watched TV.  I also did some text chats.

Now I am going to bed.  I have a long day tomorrow.  After work I have Debra and the ladies guild board meeting.

This seems to happen all the time.  Some days are slow as molasses while some days fly by.  Today is one of those days.

This morning after I did my text messages for the morning and watched a little tv.  Fed the furball and then went to Honda place and got my car serviced.  I ended up only getting the oil change.

The other item (noise that sounds like a propeller) is an all day service call.  I must find another day to do it.  I hope to get it done while on vacation I was out of there as expected by 10:30.

I came home and then went to My sister’s.  She asked me to go with her to Wal-Mart in Stratford, to get new lens in her a few of her frames.  I think it took about an hour and a half.

During that time, we chatted about things.  The optician who had been waiting on her and various stories of the family friends and plans to have dinner at a Thai Restaurant back in Woodmont.

I think it was nearly 12 when we got home Liz went back to her place to take a rest before PT.  I watched TV and had lunch.  Liz and I played Telephone tag because I thought she called me.

As the afternoon progressed, I took a few showers.  Started not feeling well but by the time I went to bed I was feeling better.

I worked on this entry and updated files.  I also got a ticket for the Peabody Museum.  Earlier in the evening I contacted LG in Old Saybrook and made plans to go to the Museum on Thursday.

I had my session with Debra at 4:30.  We chatted about my birthday and vacation, family, and of course finances.  We agreed I am in a good space right now.  We will be doing a phone session next week, and not meet the week after but we will be doing zoom near the end of the month. I can't wait to see her.

Well I am going to close out for now and finish watching NCIS and then go to bed.

Left on Thursday just before  1030.  Made stops at the bank and dunkin donuts.   Then headed to the highway .   I took my regular  route.   Traffic moved pretty well.

There were brief moments I started to doze.  So I had to make a few stops.   The first was to a rest stop.got coffee in Greenwich.  I was not far from. NY  so got going.  I still had two more hours to go. As i got through NY into New Jersey. I had to pull over a couple times.   I finally made it to my brother and sister-in-law’s house by 215.

Janis Had text early letting Me know jim was going to be released to the rehab  sent that day.  She invited  me to come along.  By the time I got to their house it was decided I would meet them at the hospital.

So I got there probably by 2: 30.  He was still  In bed.  He was still having some issues with cognitive and memories.   I sat with him and chatted about  the Colonoscopy he mentioned to Liz earlier in the week.   He explained how the latest  fall happened.    Janis confirmed  it when we were driving home.

All the while the nurse was preparing for discharge to the rehab.  The Transport  came after Janis arrived maybe after 430.

We all drove together to phoebe  nursing care rehabilitation. In Allentown.   It is beautiful.   It has assisted  living Across  the street and long term Short  term Rehabilitation.   We dropped him off.  So that he could get settled in⁰

We went back around 7  to visit  jim until he got tired.  Then we went home.  Got ready for bed and did some laundry.

On Friday Janis and I slept  in .  Then we went to the waffle house at 10.  After that we went to see jim.  While we were there he was  being assessed for his care.   We drove around parts of allentown  .   We also went to a knitting store.   Then we ordered a late lunch early  dinner from panera and headed home to eat and relax.

We went back to see jim.  He was a bit grumpy.   He told us about the nursing staff taking care of his  arm that seems to Be infected.

We talked about lots of stuff.  He was still having some memory  issues  but it was better than a couple  days Ago.

Saturday Janis Had to go to work At weight watchers so I slept in a little then I went to see Jim.  Then we went to an apple festival  at Burnside plantation in Bethlehem.  Then we went back later in the day to See jim.

On Sunday we slept in but I got packed up. Then we went to see jim. We went in separate cars as I was planning on leaving by noon for home.  I did get gas before leaving Allentown, and then made a few stops on the way home.  One was the Phillipsburg IHOP for Lunch and a couple of pit stops.  There were a few slow downs one nearest the Gov Cuomo Bridge, and I guess the regular spots that anyone in the NY, CT area will know.  I did manage to get home by 4:30.

I will be returning to Allentown in mid October while Janis goes to rhinebeck NY for the Sheep and wool festival .  I am not sure if jim will still be in rehab or he will be home but I have offered to be here for him.

Of course going  down at thanksgiving.

It is a beautiful Friday morning. It's about 68° sunny and some clouds were supposed to be cloudy all day. I don't have much planned for today except housekeeping and trying to pick up some stuff relaxing.

Yesterday I made it to the Peabody Museum. LG could not make it after all, so it took an hour and a half to get through it. The exhibits were great on three floors. I know that I missed some stuff, but I got to see Burke Hall of dinosaurs, ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia Mesoamerican in Ancient Egyptian & Andean civilizations I guess they call it.  All names that probably mean nothing to anyone else.   TBH some of it was a little boring but I still enjoyed it.  Don’t tell anyone

On the way home I called Mama Roberta, and we caught up on things for each of us.  She and Papa celebrated their birthdays and anniversaries on Tuesday with a dinner out.  She says they go out early in the morning or late at night when it is cooler.  They really do avoid the strip if they can.

I also stopped at Popeyes for Lunch.  I got some wings, mashed potatoes, and soda.

The rest of the day I got lazy.  Took a nap, watched TV, and got on the computer.

Today I was planning to do housework, but I am being sluggish about that.  I am also feeling guilty about it too.

I am a little aggravated because I thought I took out the feather duster.  I can’t find where I put it.  I have been looking for the past hour.  I am going to have to use the wood cleaner after all.  Sigh.  Edited to Add as soon as I wrote I couldn’t find the duster.  I found it in the kitchen on a chair.

Hey, I heard from Troy in the last couple of days.  He is still in CT and they are planning on Moving sometime to Massachusetts or Rhode Island.  I don’t know if he got the job he interviewed for but I don’t want to ask him.  I just told him how things are going at work and that we lost a colleague.

Well, I am going to go watch more TV.  I cleaned up from dinner.  It wasn’t much.  Some spaghetti, toast,  I really need to stop grazing.  I have gained weight again and I can feel it.

Last week the New England Chapter of the Linden Hall Alumnae had an informative chat with the Dean of Academics at Linden Hall School.  He shared about the classes the students are currently taking that include lots of college classes and others that interest them that are currently not being offered and they and they have made arrangements to get it done.

I found that interesting but something that concerned me was Katherine’s comment that we are still not getting enough people to join the New England chapter.  SHe is afraid we may not be continuing and that would be terrible.

This kickstarted me to contact Denise B from class of 1982 and see if she would be interested in helping the chapter.  I am not sure if she is though and maybe it will kickstart me into maybe contacting others in the state.

A few days later we received  a thank you  from the school for sponsoring Mt Gretna day.  I was unable to Contribute but there apparently was a substantial amount collected.  Mt Gretna Day is a day the entire School takes off in the fall and goes to a town (MT Gretna) that has fun things to do.  Skating, Food, games etc.  My memories are hazy now but I do remember some things and I am glad we went.

Katherine sent out email invitations for the final in person luncheon for the year.  Its up in Concord New Hampshire at the common man and these are the dates:

Saturday, November 11

Sunday, November 12

Wednesday, November 14

Saturday, December 9

Sunday, December 10

Wednesday, December 14

Unfortunately none of these dates work for me so I have already sent my regrets.  Why you ask? THe 11th is the celebration of Life for my coworker Denise.  Wednesdays I work.  I have meet ups the following week and its too close to other things I need to do here in the state.

I hope to kept being active in the group.  My hope also is that others join.

Wednesday was crazy. First I was beating myself up for sending emails to the wrong people regarding some of the mail.  When it was time to leave for the day, I left here hoping to get to the Bank and realized it was already closed. So I went to the highway,  unfortunately I made some wrong turns and ended up getting on at Long wharf.  I did stop for gas on the way into Guilford.

I was early to Shoreline diner and settled in and had some tea.  Subsequently the others joined.  THere were about 12 or 15 of us.  We all got something different and had great conversations.  I got some advice regarding vacuum cleaners (recommended by the Petsitter who ended up coming for a short time).

We all left by 8:30 and headed home.  I usually call Mama but the phone had a low battery and I didn’t want to deal with that.   WHen I got home I looked at the link and ordered the vacuum cleaner.  IT should be here Monday.  I hope I won’t be disappointed.

The rest of the night I did some straightening and cleaning.  Then I got ready for bed.  Eventually the titans came to bed as well.  They were getting feisty with each other too and woke me at 4.

Thursday was a busy day.  Both TD and I worked a few different things (she was finishing the cash posting).  I did work on the healthlogic mail for the 26th until I had to leave for my OB appointment.

Friday was pretty much the same thing.  That night I came home to find my front stoop all decorated and a sandwich and Pumpkin inside the door from none other than Dave.  So after feeding the cats and eating the sandwich I chatted with Dave.

Saturday was pretty rainy and so I stayed close to home.  Well I did go to the laundromat and grocery shopping but the rest of the day I did a little cleaning.  I did hear from Liz who has another cold.  I wasn’t forthcoming with news of Jim’s impromptu visit.

Sunday I did some cleaning and counted the hours I would receive the new vacuum cleaner.  I slept some,  and then around 2 I got a call from Jim and we met at Panera Bread for lunch.  We had a good time.   We discussed Thanksgiving.  At first they teased and said they were  going to Ireland and I could take care of the cats.  In the end I will be getting to their house by 7 like last year.  Dinner from Wegmans the next day.

Liz did send me a coupon for Big Lots.  Then overnight she asked me about what year I graduated.  One of the FB pages for Woodmont listed all the various elementary schools in town and one was mine.

I went to bed early Sunday. All the things on TV were things I have seen a billion times.  I did get up a few times.  THe cats were nearby.

This morning I somehow misplaced the phone.  I heard it ding but I looked everywhere and couldn’t find it.  I will try again when I get home.

Today is the last day of work for me until September 13.  I am so looking forward to not working but having things to do.  I have been looking on VisitCT.com for things to do but most are on the weekend and or at night.  My fear and probably what  will happen is I will be spending most of the day watching TV or sleeping.  IF possible (and not only that I need to make it possible) I will be taking walks.

This is what I have so far:

Lockwood Matthew Mansion Museum Until August 29.

Ghost walks in milford There are some in september as well

Concerts at Webb Dean-

Norwalk sunset cruises-until the 28th

New Britain ' until August 31

Marine life encounters Norwalk starts in the afternoon

Corn maze in Orange CT-Need to reserve tickets online.

I don’t think I can do much this weekend but I am going to do the regular house cleaning tomorrow and then keep looking through it and Groupon.  Steph, from the finding friends group, suggested I look at those.  I have to plan to reserve tickets ahead of time for many of these activities.

Dave and I have made plans for our mutual Birthday dinner at Founders Restaurant in town.  It replaced the Rainbow Gardens that had been in operation for 30 years (I believe the family was getting out of the business) in 2019.  This will be the first time I have been there.

Yesterday seemed like a slow day work wise.  There didn’t seem to be too much EOB scanning, and I had only a couple of cds to upload (with very little problem except one).  I did some of the refund backlog.  Didn’t get a chance to scan them yet but I hope I can today.

AT Liz’s suggestion I called LawyerBob 2 to ask/suggest/demand that we file a complaint with the Bar Association against LawyerBob 1.  Of course being polite and not confrontational about it.  She suggested that I ask him to do it.    He hasn’t called me back.  She also asked that he give itemized billable hours (I really hate that term).  I did try calling him late in the morning but he conveniently was out of the office for the weekend.  Liz has been suggesting we go with another lawyer now.  It's not going to be any different than the last one I am afraid.

I was relieved when I came home and didn’t find crap on the floor in the bathroom.  Well that didn’t last long.  Sometime after I had cleaned out the box there was a pile of it on the floor.  I remembered to order some of the new litter (GC from the finding woman’s group seems to think that Tiger may be irritated with the stuff I was using) so I ordered two bags.  I don’t think I will be able to get it tonight.

I don’t think I am doing anything else this weekend though.  I am waiting to hear from Director Natalie regarding bingo this weekend.  I called her earlier in the day and by the time I left had not heard from her. :(

After work I went and did the Union activity.  Happily the rain held out until after we were done.

It is Friday again and it’s Humid. It is overcast right now and it is expected to start raining around 1 and go for the rest of the day into the night. If you have been following me for a while now I love weekend nights like that. I am hoping more rain will revive the lawn a little more.

This is the beginning of the holiday weekend. People are getting their yards done and preparing for the limited parties they may have this weekend. Unfortunately right now feels like any other weekend to me. I wonder if this is how retirees feel. Well My hope is that this time next week I will be back in my office doing the job I have been doing for 18 years (I have been at the University for 28 years). I still have a couple of things to do before I go back (classes and review). I have been avoiding the emails like the plague. I have until Wednesday to do them.

I had been missing my friend siduri’s postings lately so I sent her an email this morning. I shared the family news, work related news, and my daily routine since the Pandemic started. I also started another blog here.

I was all signed up for a class this morning but my friend JOC called yesterday to plan a walk this morning for 10. Unfortunately the humidity put a kibosh on that idea. I will have to do my cardio at the gym before the day gets away from me. I am signed up for class in the morning.
So far I have been writing and texting my family and friends, and on the blogs. I am doing laundry and visiting my neighbors that I haven’t seen for a few days. I probably will end up watching TV for most of the afternoon.

I do have some pen pals to write. I need to get a move on with that. I shouldn’t feel guilty about taking so long as my theory is I don’t write on other people’s schedule. I had one guy tell me I should get off the site because I am not friendly enough. When I responded for a second time he said stop writing him. He was from the penpalsnow.com site and some of the reviews are definitely mixed.

Well have a great afternoon.
