Last week was the University’s Spirit Week and Employee Appreciation Day.  What is Spirit Week?

Yale's Staff Spirit Week is a week-long celebration recognizing and thanking the university's staff for their dedication and contributions. It features various events, including Staff Appreciation Day, campus games, and activities aimed at boosting morale and community spirit. The week typically includes a main event, like Staff Appreciation Day on Old Campus, with food, music, and other fun activities.

Some of us went around Noon time.  Some of us are walking (not me) and others are taking the shuttle over.

This year’s Spirit Week was no exception, with an impressive turnout and a lively atmosphere that made it a memorable event for everyone involved. The blend of camaraderie and celebration was palpable as colleagues gathered to enjoy the festivities and reconnect in person.

The menu was excellent.  It's catered by Bear's Smokehouse Barbeque.  Pulled chicken over corn bread and macaroni.

The energy was infectious, with laughter echoing across the campus as staff engaged in games, shared stories, and sampled delicious treats. Booths were set up showcasing various initiatives and programs, adding an enriching layer to the festivities. Live performances added a melodic backdrop, rounding out the experience with rhythm and joy.

I was able to have a picture taken with some of my colleagues and it can be found on my Facebook page.

At least the weather held out that day because that weekend and into the beginning of this week we had rain.  The Forecast calls for rain tonight and tomorrow.  The Temperatures ranged from the 60’s to the 80s

The rest of the work week was aggravating.  Several of us had printing issues.  Some new code had to be inputted and then it would let us print.  Mine was finished by Tuesday.  Now the scanning computer screen isn’t turning on.  Everything else is working but apparently the Lavoro updated.  It's beeping constantly, just loudly enough to be annoying.   I I have been using AC’s while she is out.  I will email ITS on Monday.

Late last week, I received a text message from Elia V, my union leader, requesting that I perform a favor for her.   That was to pick up JT the next morning from a Shelter and bring her to work.  JT had problems with current Asshole.   Thus, I consented.   She explained what happened, and it made me angry.    JT has been working very hard to get her work life together and get her personal life together.  I didn’t see why I couldn’t help.    It went well for two days but JT did say she was getting an Uber for now.  Elia expressed her appreciation for the help.

Only time will tell.  I hope JT can leave the guy for good.

It is Wednesday again.  That means it's Meetup Day.  I am going to be meeting the girls at a new place this week.  It's in Madison CT.MJ's Beach Grille.  Faith Recommended earlier this month.  Just in Case Hammonasset is closed to capacity or the diner is closed like last week.  We ended up at Eli’s on the Hill in Branford.  Appetizer and dessert night.  It was a lot of fun.

In about two weeks we are going to Laura’s Neighborhood Beach Party in Old Saybrook.  Its beautiful.  We are probably going to have pizza and snacks.  It will be fun.  There will be music and dancing I am sure.

The rest of the month right now for the group is just the regular Wednesday night stuff and the Saturday game days but I have to admit I don’t go to those.

The New Haven Collective has music Next Month on August 4. That will be on the Guilford Green.  I just may go.  Even though its the beginning of the week.

Liz tells me that Mike Sr. lost his father Tuesday.  Arrangements haven’t been made yet but I would like to go and show support.

I learned an old neighbor of mine Passed away.  He lived down the street toward the end off woodmont with his family.  I have good memories of him.

I sent an email to the Texas Clan.  They were in the path of Beryl.  I haven’t heard from them but that means they are fine.

We got a reminder from Cousin Donna that the Matriarch of the Coulombes will be turning 100 at the end of the month.  She is the last remaining Aunt on that side.  She married my uncle Ray.  The kids will go and celebrate with her when the time comes.

This weekend  is about family and friends  Liz and Nelson are adjusting  to condo living.  They are unpacking and the ongoing joke is tt will be unpacking til next year.  Today she went back to bed after I texted her.

She did tell me that my nephew Rich has been sick for two weeks  with pneumonia and an abscess on the lung.  He entered  the hospital yesterday.  He doesn't want visitors  but he is in the infectious  disease wing. I am not anxious to visit him anyway.

This after is the Halloween open house at Darcy 's house.  I bought some flowers for her home.  I was going to get cookies but I didn't see any that would work.

I have to get ready soon.  I am leaving here around 1 for the party.  It normally would take a half hour but traffic anywhere has been a bear.  This is the first time to her home as well.

Tomorrow is the baptism for my great niece.   I still have to get a greeting card and pick out an outfit for  the day.  I totally forgot to get one when picking up the flowers.

Well I got to go.  It's raining and I need to be moving along.

It is 79 degrees in the city and back home.  It is supposed to go into the 90’s by this afternoon.  Then drop to the 80’s overnight.  We are supposed to get a break in the heat with thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon or evening. I am that point where I hope it cools down things (something tells me it won’t).

Well I guess I should tell you I had a hard time sleeping last night.  That late afternoon/evening coffee would be the culprit as well as the tooth again.  I spent a lot of time on Words with Friends I & II.  I don’t think I fell asleep until maybe 2.  I woke up with a headache.

I didn’t take all of the early morning water that I am supposed to.  I was afraid that the oral gel I applied would be wash away.  I did take my meds including some Tylenol, so I should feel better soon.

I called the Oral Surgeon to schedule an appointment and I was told as soon as they convert the registration packet from electronic they will call me.  They were true to their word.  They called me back a short time later and my appointment is next Wednesday 11 am.  I won’t be going into work until after lunch.  I let Liz know.  I put in the time already.

I bought Gina’s shower gift.  It’s one of those Oxo grip organizers for $25. I had it delivered to her home.  I am not worried about the price as I think I could afford it and I am not spending more than I can afford.  Liz wanted to know what I got her and showed her the receipt.  I also told her I would get a gift card, so they could get something may need.  I looked up etiquette for gift giving and they do give a price range but stressed it also based on your budget.  Well she got the email, but she didn’t seem to object.  She may be holding her own counsel because she has been trying to not give unsolicited advice.

I went for a walk at lunch 45 minutes long and it was 5018 steps.  Making it up to 7K plus.  I will be at 10k but the end of the night.  I think.  I hope.
