Self-talk refers to the internal dialogue that we have with ourselves. It can be positive or negative and can significantly impact our mood, behavior, and overall mental health. Positive self-talk can boost confidence, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being, while negative self-talk can lead to feelings of doubt, anxiety, and depression.
I am guilty of the negative self-talk a lot. My brother and sister-in-law often had to remind me to stop my negative self-talk. I tried that on the way home from Allentown. Epic Fail. I have been unable to locate one of my credit cards over the past few days. I was not kind to myself. The credit card was found the next day on the end table under some papers.
Going forward I am going to give myself a break. I sometimes wonder if I let myself off too often. Aim for a balanced approach. For example, I need to go to the laundromat and grocery store. I planned to do it this morning, but I think it will take too long since I have bingo at 2. I will do it afterwards. There may be a brief expression of concern, but I do not intend for it to persist.
In conclusion, the aim moving forward is to engage in more positive self-talk.
